Why did we create the
Focus Workshop?

Last year in San Diego, we realized just how awesome of a workshop we had created and the impact that it had on photographers and their educational paths. We started Focus Workshop because we truly love helping photographers and being able to teach them all that we know. With the Focus Workshop, we wanted to create something that we as photographers would have wanted in the earlier stages of our business. We see a need in the industry for a place where there is the perfect balance of business and the art side of photography and we believe that Focus Workshop is there to help fix that!

The Focus Workshop was created as a way for us to be able to help out photographers that were frustrated that their business wasn't in the right place, feel like they needed to do something to stay relevant and be able to teach fundamentals for sustaining a profitable business while loving every second of it. We saw that Focus Workshop is a way for revive how their business is perceived in a new generation of seniors, refresh how you approach photography and your business so that you stay relevant in your market, and revamp how you're approaching senior photography to make sure it's with purpose and intention.

We loved seeing the impact that this had on photographers last year and can't wait to share our purpose with our new friends this year!

who should attend the

focus workshop?

The Focus Workshop is geared towards photographers that have already begun their journey as a senior photographer and are looking to grow and streamline their business while becoming more profitable.

This workshop will give you the tools that you'll need to be the leading photographer in your city and build the clientele base that you've always wanted.

In this workshop, we'll be covering the perfect blend of business and shooting so that you walk away feeling like you know what your next steps need to be.

What are we

covering?

Get ready! The Focus Workshop is a full 2+ days of education and networking with other fellow photographers. This will be a workshop where we'll be putting in work! This is for individuals who want to get down to business and put in the work it takes to kill it in their business.

During the course of this workshop, we'll be covering the following topics like editorial posing and shooting, finding your work-life balance, marketing and branding, pricing and psychological selling techniques, senior model teams, senior destinations and lastly senior year films.

While it seems like a lot, we wanted to make sure that you got the most out of your time at Focus and couldn't leave anything out!

The

Breakdown of topics

As creatives, we often start our businesses to create freedom for ourselves and do what we love. But, it's so easy to get sucked into our work and lose sight of the reason we started our business in the first place. Stephanie goes over what you can do to love what you do again and establish a work-life balance that allows you to have a successful business, but also regain that freedom that you sought in the beginning.

LOVING WHAT YOU DO: Work-Life Balance

Traveling, doing amazing fashion inspired shoots AND making money while you're doing it - sounds awesome right? Sean and Thomas will be covering what they do during their senior destinations.

They'll be covering everything from start to finish including prepping for the shoots, handling logistics, marketing the experience, the actual shoot, pricing so you're not in the red, and our philosophy on achieving images that make our seniors feel like they're in a fashion magazine.

Senior Destinations

Pricing is different for everyone, but what isn't different is knowing what you need to make in order to have a successful business. Stephanie will cover the ins and outs of pricing yourself for profit and how you may be doing things that are causing you to leave money on the table without having to upsell to your clients. Come ready to revamp your pricing and start making more while working less!

Pricing For profit

Last year at Focus we covered the basics of Senior Films. This year, Sean is going to be teaching you how to create your senior films with a more hands-on approach. We will be covering how to film a senior film the first day and then covering the editing and workflow behind film using the very footage that we shot during the workshop. The best part is that you don't need to have working knowledge of video because Sean will be with you every step of the way!

The most important asset that you have in your business is your brand. Sean will be covering how to brand yourself effectively in your market to become the photographer that every senior needs to have for their senior photos and how you can market to this new generation of seniors effectively and speak in terms they understand. We'll be going into what types of branding and marketing works today - especially if booking has been slow - and how to make sure that what you're putting out there is resonating with this new generation of seniors.

Talking 'bout Z generation: Marketing and branding

Throughout the last couple of years, Thomas has capitalized on the fact that his seniors want something new and different with their senior photographer. Thomas will be talking about how he keeps it fresh for his seniors and gives them images that no other photographer delivers through his editorial styling and posing. He will go into depth on how he then uses this to cultivate an engaged Instagram following and how this translates to booked, paid clients.

Keeping it fresh

After Thomas talks about what he does to create engaging content through editorial posing and styling, we'll be going out on-location with Thomas to see how he directs his clients and captures those one-of-a-kind images. You'll definitely be looking through a new lens for this and walk away with inspiration for how to add this to your next senior shoot.

Looking through a new lens

One of the pillars of Stephanie's business has been her thriving spokesmodel program - her version of a senior rep team. She will be talking about how to introducing this into your own team and building a team that is all about relationships and transforms how your business is perceived in your area.
